McDonald’s will launch wooden tableware and paper straws in December

The fast food group announced on October 7 that it will introduce wooden tableware, wooden stirring rods and paper straws to its 1,443 Canadian restaurants by December.
McDonald’s stated that the measure is expected to remove approximately 840 tons of plastic from the Canadian system each year.
Rob Dick, Supply Chain Officer of McDonald’s Canada, said: “By removing these single-use plastics in our restaurants, we show that we are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint and protecting the planet for future generations.”
Wooden stirring rods are currently being launched nationwide, and wooden tableware and paper straws will be launched later this month. The McFlurry spoon will continue to be plastic.
